The Institute for Transport Studies (ITS) at the University of Leeds will be holding a 3-day training course on TRANSPORT INVESTMENT APPRAISAL on 12-14 May 2009.

Sessions will include: 
	
*  Principles of project appraisal, financial appraisal, cost-benefit analysis.
*  Risk, uncertainty and optimism bias. 
*  Capital budgeting. Acceptance tests; choice between alternatives; capital rationing; deferment.
*  Valuation of costs and benefits; willingness to pay methods (revealed & stated preference). 
*  Valuation of travel time and service quality benefits.		                                        
*  Applications to safety and environmental impacts.   	
*  Frameworks; multi-criteria methods and the new approach to appraisal.  
*  Financing transport projects; the effects of alternative financing media.
*  Public transport project appraisal; commercial rail projects.  
*  Development and regeneration benefits.		
*  Public transport project appraisal; social appraisal.		
*  Multi-modal appraisal and TUBA case study.

The team delivering the course includes Professors Peter Mackie, Chris Nash and Mark Wardman, together with Rob Bain and John Nellthorp. The fee is 599 GBP, which includes a course dinner on the evening of 13th May.
