Dear All

I have recently come across a collection of O Henry stories (a mere 100 of the 475 that he apparently wrote) and have been struck by various aspects, ranging from the structure through to settings which include the military, the frontier and loafers which are reminiscent of Kipling. Does anyone know whether Kipling was an influence on him at all? (Or even vice versa?) I believe he is sometimes compared to Maupassant.

PS The stories are very enjoyable! Well worth a (re-)visit.
