I was walking by the cathedral, coming out of town, and came to a halt at the
line of scouts
marching for St George. It was Sunday and this
was a delayed parade and my mind went back

to the blue bound school log books the head
allowed me to quarry and the repeated thump
of reports on Empire Day. And I thought
of bugles blowing somewhere, and mud fields

as bands now began a march a trumpet blow.
