medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Further to my last, you can find things very your 'caterpillar' throughout Eckhart's vernacular works and also in the Eckhartian school - in the Schwester Katrei treatise, which was for some time attributed to him but now thought to be by a German Beguine, it is said that if you could understand even the stem of a pear in its highest aspect, you would understand God himself.
Do get in touch off-list if you want to pursue this further.
Best wishes,

I have been searching through various editions of Eckhart in pursuit of the passage where Eckhart says something to the effect that an hour spent in the presence of a caterpillar is a worthy spiritual education. Does anyone know in which text this statement might appear?
Sincerely,
Chara Armon
