Research Assistant (Deaf Community Fieldworker) School of Languages, Literatures and Performing Arts Ref: 09/100896 Applications are invited for the above post to work as part of the British Sign Language Course Project which aims to create a corpus (ie a computerised collection of language recordings) of British Sign Language (BSL) and to carry out research into the vocabulary, grammar and sociolinguistic variation in BSL. We are looking for well organised Deaf people who have extensive relevant experience and strong long term links with the Belfast Deaf Community as well as native signing skills in BSL. The successful applicant will be responsible for recruiting, interviewing and filming 30 deaf participants in the Belfast area. This short term contract can be carried out on a full-time or part-time basis and the duration will be between one and three months.
