Chinese Tutors Needed for Routes into Languages East

The Cambridge University Language Centre is currently seeking expressions of interest from tutors of Mandarin Chinese to participate in our Routes into Languages (RiL) activities with schools and colleges across the region. CULP (Cambridge University Language Programme) for Schools and Colleges will initially run from September 2009 – March 2011 with scope for further expansion, dependent on funding.

As a RiL CULP tutor you will be available to teach one or more courses at Basic and Intermediate level Mandarin Chinese in one or more schools or colleges within a thirty-mile radius of your home.  You will be willing to develop an integrated language learning methodology using a combination of face-to-face teaching and online learning using the University’s award winning CULP approach and online resources.

A typical RiL CULP course is organised over a school year and involves approximately 30 weekly lessons of up to two hours duration.  Lessons take place in the partner school or college at the end of the school day.  Courses also include up to three intensive days, each offering five hours of language tuition.  These normally take place in the University of Cambridge Language Centre but could also take place within partner universities across the region.  Students supplement their weekly lessons with online learning using CULP resources provided by the University.

Successful applicants will be willing to attend a three-day Tutor Training course led by Senior Tutors at the University of Cambridge Language Centre from the 21st – 23rd July 2009.

If you are a Chinese tutor living in East Anglia with relevant experience of teaching Mandarin Chinese to school and college students, we would be keen to hear from you.
