Individual Differences in Mobile Information Seeking

A Special issue of Online Information Review (OIR)

The development of telecommunication technologies such as WiMax and long-range broadband has opened up new opportunities in the area of ubiquitous computing. This is especially the case for location-based services. A key aspect of this work has been the development of web-based information services that can be accessed anytime and anywhere by users. Partly as a result of such convenience, a wide range of people have begun using mobile devices for seeking information. Thus, individual differences play an essential role in mobile information seeking. This special issue of OIR focuses on how individual differences influence people's attitudes and behaviour when seeking information with mobile devices. We hope that the implications of findings of each work presented in this special issue can be used to improve the development of information services so that these services can effectively support mobile information seeking for different types of users.

Topics of interest may focus on, but are not restricted to:

*	Adult vs. Children
*	Cognitive Styles;
*	Culture Factors;
*	Disability Needs
*	Gender Differences;
*	Spatial Ability
*	System Experience
