Dear all, AGI GeoCommunity '09 The AGI is again this year supporting academic attendance at the new-format GeoCommunity conference on 23rd & 24th September in Stratford-upon-Avon with a set of bursaries. The conference has moved on a lot from when it was allied with the big trade show, with the emphasis of the event being on the conference and high quality, business-related papers. This year's theme 'Realising the Value of Place' will address the role of the GeoCommunity at a time of challenge and opportunity in a time of global economic flux. The call for papers is currently open, as is registration. General information about the conference are here: http://www.agi.org.uk/bfora/systems/xmlviewer/default.asp?arg=DS_AGI_ABOUTART_73/_page.xsl/94 The call for papers closes on 1st May - details here: http://www.agi.org.uk/bfora/systems/xmlviewer/default.asp?arg=DS_AGI_ABOUTART_75/_page.xsl/96 The Basics of the Academic Bursary Scheme ========================================= 1) Up to 6 bursaries for academics will be made available. 2) "Academic" means a postgraduate researcher and above in full-time education or the academic profession. 3) Bursaries are to be requested when submitting a conference paper. 4) Paper acceptance is not a pre-requisite for a bursary: high quality papers that may not make the final programme for other reasons may still qualify. The Detail ========== The £200 grant will be discounted from the standard speaker rate package to allow the choice of one of two options: * The 'Full conference package' including the icebreaker event and accommodation on September 22nd = £130 + VAT * The Conference package for 23rd and 24th September excluding the icebreaker event and accommodation on the 22nd = FREE # The bursary is non transferable or exchangeable for a cash alternative. # The bursary options are ‘as is’ and non negotiable. # The bursary does not cover travel. # Dual hotel room occupancy is at standard rates for second person, (contact AGI for more details). # Accommodation is not guaranteed in the conference venue and may be in a neighbouring hotel. # Our standard cancellation policy will be applied for cancellations (contact AGI for more details).
