It certainly relates to the opposite magmatic extreme, but ultramafites in the Webster-Addie complex of the Southern Appalachians exhibit analogous composite fabrics.

In particular, this sheet (or sheets) of dunite-harburgite-websterite preserves a history of polyphase tectonic events, beginning with its probable origin in continental rifting. Folded chromitites, websterites and lherzolite attest to early deformation, while a magnetic fabric most closely conforms to the Taconic and later emplacement of the body into the Blue Ridge province.

It is apparent that the later events involved hydration/oxidation/magnetization of the original ferrochromite. The hydrous metamorphism was clearly responsible for development of the magnetic fabric. I also suggest close examination of the iron-oxide bearing phases and attempts to discern their history in the granitic rocks.
