I'm in complete agreement with you,Chris.  I wish to exercise my view and what I perceive to be my rights and other folk may exercise their own.  We may have diametrically opposing views and my neighbour has every right to have his home on display while I have every right not to.

It may well be that we need new legislation.  The DPA does not seem to apply, possibly because intrusions like this were not thought of when it was drafted.

Google is dilatory about blurring of number plates, too.  My late mother's neighbour still has her late husband's car number plate on clear display on her front drive despite my reporting it quite some time ago.

Because someone can’t see the fuss does not make it right! People have their own views on Street View (as with Facebook, ex-directory phone numbers etc etc) and should be able to exercise their own choices re the images.

As I said, Google appear to remove images without any question asked – which is the important point here. I think the OIC’s view is probably contingent on Google’s policy here.

Subject: Re: [data-protection] Street View

I am just trying to see what all the fuss is about here so forgive me for playing devil’s advocate. Where is the difference in what Street View shows and what press photos or video shows? What is the difference between this and camera phone video captures shown on You-Tube etc?

As I say, just playing devil’s advocate here but would be interested to hear the views as from what I have seen so far it has all been knee-jerk NIMBY responses
