As part of an exciting new book project here at the University of Central Lancashire, provisionally entitled 'Consuming Dark Tourism in Contemporary Society', we are currently undertaking survey work at the following sites:
- Auschwitz- Birkenau
- Ground Zero
- Body Worlds exhibitions
- The Dungeon attractions
If you have visited any of the above sites within the past five years and are aged 16 years or over, then we would love to hear of your visitor experiences. The online survey (links below) should take no more than 10 minutes to complete, and in return for your valued time and contribution, you will have the opportunity to receive a 1 hour DVD of the TV documentary - 'Turning Points of History: Dark Tourism'.

Brief Bio:
Philip’s main research interests revolve around dark tourism and its fundamental interrelationships with (post)modern society. In particular, Philip is interested in the thanatological aspects of dark tourism consumption, and the societal consequences of contemporary mortality and morality issues. Philip, who is Founder and Editor of The Dark Tourism Forum (see www.dark-tourism.org.uk), has published in a range of leading international academic journals and presented at various international conferences, as well as writing and consulting for print and broadcast media across the world. A book co-authored with Richard Sharpley, The Darker Side of Travel: The Theory & Practice of Dark Tourism, is forthcoming.
