Brunel University is awarding up to 30 competitive PhD studentships to
home/EU students. The Centre for Human Geography is inviting
applications which meet the criteria in the following research areas:

 

CRITICAL GEOGRAPHIES OF DEVELOPMENT

Aspects of socio-cultural change in sub-Saharan Africa; 

AIDS in Africa (impacts; policy);

critical politics of aid and development .   

 

GENDER

Geographies of gender; 

gendered geographies of education, training and employment

women's and girls' environment justice/education in Pakistan

gendering of energy (use/poverty/industry);

gender dimensions of climate change;

geographies of masculinities;

geographies of women and employment, motherhood.

 

MOBILITY

Geographies of mobility. 

 

CHILDREN AND YOUTH

Geographies of children, childhood and youth, children's services; 

geographies of childcare, children's services, child carers ;

overseas gap year projects.  

 

SOCIAL CARE

Historical and social geographies of care;

Applications, including a 2 page research proposal, should in the first
instance be sent to the Centre for Human Geography, for preliminary
selection and formative feedback by May 31st.  (To
