If you do try out the GL mode again - and experience a crash, could you send us the output from: $ dmesg > dmesg_out.txt This will spew an awful lot of information into dmesg_out.txt but one part of it might be quite interesting. Your machine will print problems to this file right up to the point of crash so we might be able to catch the problem there. It's worth noting that there will also be information from the current boot but by looking at the timestamps we should be able to spot where the crash occurred.
