UNIVERSITY OF KENT in Canterbury IMSAS Fully funded studentships for PhD study The Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science is offering fully funded studentships for PhD study. The Statistics group wishes to encourage applicants for these competitively allocated studentships. The successful candidate will be expected to start their study in September 2009. The studentship is for 3.5 year study and is open to UK and EU candidates. For home students, the studentship includes full academic fees and a maintenance grant. Applicants should have a first or an upper-second class BSc honours degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics or a related subject. MMath or MSc in a relevant area of Mathematics or Statistics would be an advantage. Applications are invited for a PhD in any area of Statistics or Probability in which there is expertise in the Department. Possible research topics include Financial data modelling, Bayesian nonparametric methods, Variable selection with high-dimensional data, Stochastic Epidemic Modelling, Shape analysis, Stochastic processes.
