T,O,U,C,H,I,N,G via Paul Sharits & David Franks This straw, its draw. Destroy this drawing, it’s Troy. Distraught. Barry Alpert / Silver Spring, MD US / 4-22-09 (9:14 AM) Surprised myself by initially drafting this during the NatGalArt's screening of Sharits' 1968 flicker film this past Saturday. Within range of homophonic and homolinguistic translation, but not quite either. My friend David Franks (poet, composer, conceptual artist) is on screen for a large percentage of the film's 12 minute duration and I'm virtually certain Sharits let him produce the soundtrack. Samples of "T,O,U,C,H,I,N,G" are available online, but they don't compare to the powerful mind-manifesting impression the newly-restored version had on the audience. Certainly not as intense, but still well worth watching and available in its entirety, Paul Sharits' "Word-Movie" can be viewed at: http://www.colin-herd.com/2009/03/paul-sharits-word-movie.html
