Dear Colleague
HEaTED (Higher Education and Technicians Education and Development) is a project that has been developing over that last 2-3 years in order to provide HE with the technical skills needed for the future,

HEaTED has received further funding in order to run a second UK wide survey of technical staff training needs, and subsequent development action plan, in order to build on the successful work that is already
producing real results.
This is to give you advance notice of the forthcoming HEaTED survey and to seek your help as partners in making the 2009 HEaTED survey a success! The survey aims to find out how the work environment has changed since 2006 (1st UK survey), highlighting the technical skills needed by HE employers today.
A hardcopy flyer and accompanying letter from Sheffield VC Professor Keith Burnett, chair of the HEaTED management group is being sent out this week to all VCs, Principles, Registrars, Heads of HR, Heads of
Staff Development and HEaTED membership named contacts. The letter is inviting ALL HEIs to participate in the survey which will be launched for Technical Specialists on 1st May.
Colleagues that have a responsibility for the training and development of Technical Staff will find this of particular interest.
Details and copy of flyer on the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) website at: <http://www.istonline.org.uk/HEATED/heated-survey-2009.htm>

Kind regards
