italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear Mr. Parisi,

I'm rather convinced that your quotation refers to the Italian journal "L'Italia che scrive", founded in 1918, which was one of the most influential reviews of the interwar period. I didn't check it out, but i suppose you can find plenty of pages on the web about it.
Consequently the journal also started to publish books as "Edizioni ICS", like the reference found by Mr. Cooke shows.
If I'm correct, the first time I found a mention to a journal called "ICS" it was in a Gramsci's page, where he quoted it with approval, and I had a hard time to figure out what it was.

Best,

Alessandro Marignani

Can anybody help me with this?

Domenico Mondrone, in an article published in 1938 (in La civilita' cattolica), writes: " E' possibile -- s'e' domandato giustamente Luigi Tonelli in una pagina dell'ICS -- che Moravia non abbia conosciuti ne' conosca ... "

What is (or what was) ICS? Tonelli is not quoted in the Annotated Bibliography on Moravia Criticism published by Ferdinando and Sandra Alfonsi (New York, 1976).

Best wishes

Luciano Parisi
