I think the statement is misrepresented in that quote. The same site now
includes the following:
"According to a statement from Skolimowska’s father Robert, it is possible
that other factors contributed to her death: “Following a discussion with
the doctor I am of the opinion that there were causes: possibly a blood clot
or over-training."
This doesn't indicate confusion about whether a pulmonary embolism is a
blood clot but uncertainty about whether there was some other contributory
factor. The report also states the finding was only a preliminary one and a
fuller autopsy report is still to be issued so it's also quite reasonable
for there still to be some element of uncertainty in his mind.
