Geospatial Software Quality Assurance  Analyst

Permanent  Position around £35,000 negotiable 
Edinburgh,  Scotland 
The  Position 
The  client is a unique organisation that not only develops geospatial 
software but  also possesses the expertise and resources to turn the software into  
class-leading enterprise-wide business solutions at the heart of many private  
and public sector client's IT framework throughout the  world. 
Key  to this success is the robust structure that is built into every line  
of code that the company licence and this is where the product development QA  
professionals come in. 
You  may come from a software development or support background but in either 
case  you'll have a strong grasp of current QA process and the development of 
test  plans, the writing of test-scripts, as well as testing per se.  
Hopefully you'll have ISEB accreditation  and some understanding of Change Control 
and Release Management processes.  Your skills should be up to date and  reflect 
Microsoft conformance,  in particular regarding their .Net  framework and 
associated web-hosting. Personally, you must be someone with an  aptitude for 
resolving software-related problems.  The characteristics required are a good  
eye for detail, a keen interest in how software works and a liking for  
team-based work. 
What the job involves
The  tasks and responsibilities will include: 
-Quality  Assurance tasks which include the creation of Test Plans, automated 
and ad-hoc  testing and stress testing of GIS software applications, many of 
which are  web-based.  These are typically  built within the .Net framework 
-Producing  technical end-user documentation.  This will involve working 
closely with the software development team to  create user-manuals describing 
technical details in a form readily accessible to  end-users.
