Dear all,
Please see the email below from Cape UK. If you are a self-employed learning practitioner working in the heritage sector, you are strongly advised to complete the survey below and have your say in the development of the Quality Badge.
Should there be a Quality Badge for self-employed individuals working with young people outside the classroom?

The DCSF has charged Cape UK with the task of canvassing views on the value of establishing a Quality Badge for self employed individuals involved in Learning Outside the Classroom. This could be relevant to many different kinds of professionals: the dance practitioner working regularly in a school hall; an artist working with a group of pupils in a gallery; the instructor leading an adventurous expedition; the freelance educator working in a museum; the actor facilitating role play in a historic building; the farmer taking livestock into a school...

We are keen to hear from self-employed practitioners, school managers, youth leaders and any organisation for whom the assurance of quality in learning experiences outside the classroom is important.

A Quality Badge is already available to organisations engaged in developing authentic learning experiences for children beyond the classroom door; see www.lotcqualitybadge.org.uk<http://www.capeuk.org/www.lotcqualitybadge.org.uk> for more information. It endorses organisations operating with good quality assurance and risk management procedures and thus makes it easier for schools to identify who they would like to work with.

Is a similar Quality Badge needed for self employed individuals? If so, how should it work?

Completing this survey will take only 15-20 minutes of your time. It is open until the 10th March.

If you know of any others who contribute to this discussion, please forward the survey link on.
