Back in 1972 I made a series of films called Logic Lane, which traces the development of philosophy at Oxford from the 1930s to the early 1970s. The series features figures like A.J. Ayer, Iris Murdoch, Isaiah Berlin, David Pears, Strawson, Ryle, and and Bernard Williams. and covers topics including ethics, freedom and determinism, philosophy and science, linguistic theory and the philosophy of mind. They are available on-line to participating universities in the British Universities Film and Video Council (BUFVC) MAAS Media Online project at www.bufvc.ac.uk/maas/. Others should contact me directly to obtain copies on DVD. Michael Chanan * * Film-Philosophy salon After hitting 'reply' please always delete the text of the message you are replying to.
