Sicklesmere (Suffolk)

CDEPN has for Sicklesmere "If this is an ancient name it represents Sicel's mere".    A glance at the Suffolk Feet of Fines would have revealed Sykolvesmere 1272.    This seems to contain the Scandinavian name Sigolfr, and if so it is rather interesting to find this in central Suffolk (cf. Sigglesthorne YE 68).

I don't see the point of having this entry in a popular dictionary.   It can only mislead, since it implies that it is not known whether the name is old, and suggests a hypothetical personal name, when it is more likely to contain a known one.
