Hi all Could anyone please provide clues as to where I can obtain academic references regarding images of disability on children's television. Although I can compare the incidence of Joey Deacon on Blue Peter in the 1980's with the recent controversy about the presenter on CBBC today, these were both met with negative attitudes - what I want to know is is this typical (I presume it is) or has there been any positive portrayals? Even my children can only think of one tv programme - desperado's which features wheelchair users positively. Please note I am concentrating on visually obvious disabilities. If anyone can help please let me know - I am writing my dissertation and am really stuck!
