This might not be a TextHelp glitch, but could also be a USB problem. Check that you don't have the option for turning off power to the USB port ticked. Whilst I haven't seen this problem with software running from a USB stick, I have seen problems with devices not working correctly due to the USB port turning off. I've been evaluating the TextHELP Gold V8.1 Mobile (pre-installed on a custom USB stick), and come across what I think may be a glitch. Every time I use the reading function for more than an hour and a half at a time the light goes out on the stick, the voice stops working, and TextHELP basically grinds to a halt. I've re-formatted the USB stick once, with the disk supplied, but it keeps happening. It also 'dies' when my anti-virus program runs... The rest of my computer programs are running perfectly well, so I'm fairly confident that it isn't my PC. Since these are issues that are likely to crop up when a student is using the stick - i.e. to check a long essay, or worse - their dissertation, it would have a real impact on whether I recommend the mobile version or the installed version. Has anyone else come across this problem?
