ECU Sensory Audit
Project: HEI Participation
Dear Colleagues
Institutions are invited to take part in this
project, which will involve audits being undertaken by a consultant over 2/ 3 days,
who will explore access to the general campus, student services and to learning
and teaching environments for students with visual and hearing impairments and
autism spectrum disorders.
The institution will receive a free confidential
report that can be used to support its disability equality scheme and inform
its action planning. The institution will be asked to provide a key
contact, who will help the consultant to organise the audit and to set up
interviews with students with sensory impairments and staff responsible for the
audit environments. Institutions will be also be asked to allow anonymised
findings from the audits to be collated into practical briefings to estates,
student services and learning and teaching managers.
ECU will select three institutions for audit.
The HEIs will be chosen to reflect a range of campus environments to enable
maximum transferability of the findings.
If you are interested in taking part, please send an
email outlining your contact details, your reasons for wanting to be included
and a short description of your campus environment by Monday 20th April 2009 to [log in to unmask] with the subject heading
Sensory Campus Access Audits.
Many thanks
