As many of you know, I work from my home. And I answer the domestic
number when it rings.

Today it indicated "Unavailable" as the number, which is not the same as
"Withheld", and is not "Internat". I answered to be addressed by a
gentleman who introduced himself as "Accident Helpline" and asked in=f
anyone here had wished to claim for an accident.

I thought "How kind. If I'd fallen down the stairs running to answer
the call to my TPS registered number...."

I asked to know more about him. They state they are based in Garrett
Lane, London SW18 4DA, but he had no idea of the building name or
number. Just as we were getting friendly his supervisor made him hang
up. He said he had my name and address (which he did) from the hospital
where I had reported the accident. This would be the accident I have
not had.

Google reveals it to be a general postcode, not company specific. Pity.

Calls to the major accident help organisations reveal that the are being
impersonated at present and are working with the Ministry of Justice to
try to deal with it. None of them have a call centre in Garrett Lane,
and none of them see any value in cold calling. After all, what is the
probability of hitting (pin intended) someone who wants to claim for an
accident by going through the phone book?

Just thought you would like a heads up. Regrettably there is no-one to
complain about because tracing them is impossible.
