Dear all

We are delighted to announce that/ UCL Archives/, the integrated*
*online database of archive and manuscript holdings for UCL Library
Services, is being launched today.

This open-access database features multi-level catalogues and lists of
Special Collections archive collections, rendering them searchable via a
variety of different search options. In doing so /UCL Archives/ unlocks
these collections for global audiences and reflects UCL’s position as a
key leading light in the international educational sphere. Highlights
include the catalogues to collections relating to human geneticist Sir
Francis Galton (1822-1911), George Orwell (1903-1950) and politician
Hugh Gaitskell (1906-1963).

During the course of this year further catalogues and lists will be
added to /UCL Archives/, including full details for the archive
collections held by the School of Slavonic and East European Studies
Library (currently searchable on /UCL Archives/ at collection level but
with full details at http://www.ssees.ucl.ac.uk/archives/newarchi.htm),
and also the other UCL libraries.

To access the database, go to the main Library homepage at
www.ucl.ac.uk/library <http://www.ucl.ac.uk/library> and click on /UCL
Archives/ on the ‘Quick Links’ menu to the left of the screen.
Alternatively, go directly to http://archives.ucl.ac.uk
<http://archives.ucl.ac.uk/>. Please contact [log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> if you have any comments.

Kind regards,

Zoe Browne and Gill Furlong
