Spenser was widely referenced in the two centuries after he lived. Today, almost no one reads him,despite his possibly being the greatest of all English poets. My question to the list: are there any post-1930 (or so) literary works that reference Spenser, or allude to any of his works? I am stunned (due to Spenser's brilliance), yet also not surprised (having received a BA in English without ever reading a word of his works), if no artist has found Spenser worthy of a reference in a modern work of English literature.
