Starting out with no clear plan to make a documentary, the director uses his camera to capture the course of their coming to know each other. Three years on, the film's key figure faces the death penalty for the crime of "transporting drugs," the kind of story to be found in cities across the world. Just what exactly is the relationship between a filmmaker and those being portrayed?
