The School of Social Sciences, Media and Communication is proud of its dynamic research culture. Excellence in our research was rewarded in the recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) for our internationally recognised work in Linguistics' and ‘Communication, Media and Culture' with 95% of our submission for ‘Communication, Media and Culture' recognised as being of international research quality. The School encourages outward looking research activity, and has built up a strong research record, attracting over £3 million of research funding over the past four years, as well as undertaking a wide range of consultancy work. QMU is making funds available for up to 7 PhD studentships in our distinctive research areas. Successful applicants can look forward to: all fees waived for three years and £10,500 pa towards living costs; membership of both a community of experienced academics and our Graduate School; training, support and dedicated supervision throughout your studies.
