I find it quite common to be presented with very sketchy documents from schools asking for exam concessions for GSCE/GCE, often with gaps, no data etc - some signed by EPs What is really sad is that despite all the info around and the excellent work of Aimhigher et al, schools are still not preparing their kids for the HE sector. No pupil gets a statement without considerable detailed documentation and such documentation might assist the EP. But doesn't it say something about our system if this student can't articulate or describe his SpLD or at least the effects that it has and the barriers that he may face in education? He has provided me with a one page document with no heading and no name, signature or contact details. He wants to apply for DSA so will need further evidence. Our dyslexia tutor has asked me to find out what other institutions do in these cases. Would you normally just send these through your EPs etc, assuming of course that you have briefed them and that they are happy to see them?
