Today's Economist (31 Jan), article on the Peruvian town of Cerro De Pasco, which somebody decided to build on top of some valuable minerals accessible by open-cast mining.

Interesting images on Google Earth, it's at 10, 40, 40, 17 south, 17, 15, 35, 79 west.
