Hi Tyne,

There is an option in the Batch Add users to include Primary Institutional Role as part of the upload. This should do the job for you.

Subject: Batch changing Institutional roles

Hello everyone,

My question is about the setting and changing of Institutional roles.

As a bit of background, we are currently running Blackboard 8 SP3 and for the most part have only ever created students with the same Institutional role, so the tabs, modules and branding (let’s call them the frontend) the students see have always remained the same no matter what course they are enrolled on.

We are now developing a new programme in which a student needs to complete a number of courses in order to gain the qualification and what we would like to do is give students a different frontend depending on which course they are currently taking part in. We think that the way to do this is to change the student’s Institutional role, and therefore associated frontend, each time they start a new course.  This is fine if the number of students is small, as it can be done manually, but the number we are expecting would not make this practical.

So my question is, is there some way in which we can batch change student Institutional roles?

Look forward to your responses and thank you,

Regards

Tyne Koppen
