Statistician / Senior Statistician
£20,500 - £40,000 (depending on seniority of post and experience)

The Survey Methods Unit at the National Centre for Social Research is looking 
to recruit either a Survey Statistician or Senior Statistician to work on the 
design of social surveys. The post would involve work in the areas of sampling 
design, weighting, methodological experimentation and general survey design. 

Candidates for the post would be expected to have a degree in statistics, 
social statistics or a closely related discipline and/or Chartered Statistician 
status. Some professional experience of survey statistics would be preferred, 
although is not essential. Candidates would also be expected to be familiar 
with SPSS, Stata or a similar statistical package. 

The post will be based at the National Centre for Social Research’s head office 
in London EC1. The successful candidates will join a team of five Statisticians 
in the Survey Methods Unit. The Unit provides advice and support to the 
quantitative research teams at the National Centre for Social Research, mainly 
for survey design and analysis. In addition, the Unit undertakes original 
methodological research and disseminates good practice and research findings 
in the field of survey methods.

The National Centre for Social Research specialises in the design, conduct and 
reporting of social research in a wide range of subject areas, including health, 
employment, education, families and children, housing, crime and social 
attitudes. Some projects are commissioned while others are grant-funded. We
