You may be interested in the Disability Equality Commitment, which has recently been introduced following a recommendation by the Commission for Disabled Staff in Lifelong Learning (through their research into disabled staff issues in the sector).

Any institutions within the lifelong learning sector (including higher education) are welcome to sign up to the Commitment, and by doing so pledge to achieving 11 key outcomes for disabled staff. It does not give awards to those who sign up (like Athena Swan does) but this is being considered by the Disability Equality Implementation Group, whose members (including myself) have responsibility for promoting the Commitment.

For further details about the Commitment please visit http://www.lluk.org/disability-equality-commitment.htm or Disability Equality Implementation Group visit http://www.lluk.org/disability-equality-implementation-group%20.htm

If you’re interested in this I would be happy to discuss this further with you.

Best regards

Subject: Disability related question

Dear all

We have signed up to the Athena SWAN Charter and are pursuing the various awards associated with Charter membership.  Does anyone know of equivalent schemes or programmes related to disability? I am aware of the Two Ticks status.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Melody
