Yes this is the answer and Connecting for Health is working towards that
goal - starting with the National Laboratory Medicine Catalogue and the
Summary Care Record. Pathology also has three good databases to link
with the catalogue to enable intelligent requesting and interpretation.

 

LabWizard (in Australia) is well advanced in this route
