I was reading over the code for Psychophysiological Interactions.

My understanding of the process is the the timeseries from a VOI is deconvolved to get an estimate of the underlying neural activity (xn), which makes sense; however, xn is then detrended. I was wondering why the neural activity (xn) is detrended since convolution/deconvolution results differ depending on whether the data is detrended or not.
