PRESS OFFICERS

Salary:   £33,692 – 38,067

·       Competitive Pension

·       30 days annual leave

Do you want to work in a busy press office at the heart of Government? The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) is looking for talented Press Officers to communicate its work on issues vital to the UK economy and the lives of millions of people.

Our mission to win the jobs of the future through skills and training, expand apprenticeships, widen participation in higher education and promote science and innovation is at the forefront of the Government’s response to the economic downturn aimed at emerging stronger from the upturn. Creativity and the ability to turn our policies into engaging news is essential, alongside a sharp news sense, an insatiable appetite for current affairs and the ability to win the confidence of Ministers and colleagues. You will have sound judgement, excellent communication skills – both written and oral - and the ability to react quickly

These are high profile posts in a fast moving environment so you will need to demonstrate experience of working in a communications role in a busy press office, journalism or PR.

You should have a good standard of education (preferably to degree level) and for the science and innovation desk vacancy, a background or passion for science would be favourable.
