Dear Colleagues A referencing & writing symposium will be held at the University of Bradford on Monday 8th June 2009. The event is jointly organised by the 'LearnHigher' and 'Write Now' CETLs; you are invited to attend. Details and an online booking form can be found at http://www.brad.ac.uk/lss/tqeg/conferences/referencingandwriting/index.html One of the workshops at the symposium is on the difficulties students experience with referencing - which can lead them to stray into plagiarism territory. In order to gather a wide range of student perspectives, the Referencing Learning Area of the LearnHigher CETL has introduced a student 'Have Your Say' feature. To encourage students to 'have their say', a fortnightly random draw for a £25 book token is offered until the 27th March. There is also an essay writing competition with the title: 'What's the point of referencing?'. There are two cash prizes of £300 to be won at each of the following levels: Undergraduate and Postgraduate. Closing date 31st March 2009. For more details of the 'Have Your Say & essay writing competition, go to http://www.learnhigher.ac.uk/ and then click onto the Referencing Learning Area. I would be very grateful if you would mention these two features of the Referencing Learning Area of the LearnHigher site to your students - and look forward to seeing you at the symposium. regards Colin Neville University of Bradford, Learner Development Unit ------------------------------------------------------------ This mail sent through IMP: http://webmail.brad.ac.uk To report misuse from this email address forward the message and full headers to [log in to unmask] ------------------------------------------------------------ ************************************************************************* You are subscribed to the JISC Plagiarism mailing list.
