I should think the GP will advise to take the proverbial running jump. We would refuse to do this for certain as non contractual obligation - so I guess that leaves them with the employee

2009/1/20 Gail Collins <[log in to unmask]>

In the past EMAS used to provide a service for just this problem but as they don't really exist now I asked the same question last year of an OHA for HSE and she suggested that each record is given to the individual to take for storage at their GP surgery.

Not sure how the GP would feel and  what if an employee wants to make a claim and the records have to be produced (with consent )  - more admin work for overstretched  GP services.

Some records have to be kept for legal purposes and the company that has them now have to source an appropriate storage facility - even if they are scanned and kept on disc etc  -   anything else can be shredded.

Just make sure that you have an accurate list of the records you leave bundled and sealed for storage and keep a copy of the list yourself when you go

Kind regards
Gail

Can anyone advise the best course of action for the following?

We have been working with a company that is completely closing down; we
supplied the OH Service for past 2 years.  They have very old archived OH
files and our more recent ones; we cannot transfer to another OH Supplier as
the company will no longer exist.  Any ideas of how we deal with the records?

I am happy for contact off line.
