POSTGRADUATE FUNDING
OPPORTUNITIES IN MODERN LANGUAGES AT DURHAM UNIVERSITY
The School of Modern
Languages and Cultures is pleased to offer a range of funding
opportunities at MA and PhD level for 2009/10:
1. Thanks to the
generous donation of a Durham alumnus, the School is delighted to make available
two Barker MA Scholarships covering fees and a stipend. Applications are welcome
from students applying to do research and taught MAs in the School.
Closing
date for applications is 27 March 2009.
2. The Faculty of
Arts and Humanities will again be making available MA Scholarships for
students applying for both research and taught MAs and cover
tuition fees. Closing date for applications is 6 March
2009.
3. Durham University
is once again inviting applications for its Doctoral Fellowship scheme. It is
expected that about 30 Fellowships will be available this year. Fellowships
cover tuition and maintenance, a research training support grant, and an
allowance to attend a UK Grad School. Closing date for applications is 16
February 2009.
Pending the outcome
of the AHRC's Block Grant Partnership application, the
School also aims to offer fully-funded studentships in a range of
subject areas. Full details of all these schemes,
and how to apply, can be found here:
The
School has research strengths across six languages (Arabic, French, German,
Italian, Russian and Spanish) and many historical periods.
Itoffers a successful range of taught MA programmes
on a variety of subjects: Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Seventeenth Century Studies, the
