UNHCR is examining the situation of statelessness in Zimbabwe and in 
neighbouring states that has resulted form the 2001 ban on dual 
citizenship, mainly affecting ‘foreign’ origin farmers and farm workers 
in Zimbabwe. It will look into current citizenship regulations, 
practices and procedures in Mozambique, Zambia and Malawi and how or if 
persons who have ‘returned’ to these countries can restore or re-affirm 
their ancestral citizenship. Researchers, especially lawyers, who have 
information on these matters, should contact:
