This film , and no i havnt seen it, seems to be very much Boyles M.O. He takes a long look at Edinburghs underbelly in Trainspotting, post industrial sheffied in Full Monty, and now this indian slum. All the films feature ppl ' jackpotting ' themselves out of poverty (only they dont, a random drug deal, a nights stripping and a quiz show arnt really something for the public to really get their teeth into by any strech) I imagine hes trying to be a good liberal, but really hes more of a weird capitalist apologist. He may as well have someone rub a lamp and mug the genie. I cant insult the ending, i remember the greatness that was ' Sinnerman ' at the end of Inland Empire. . * * Film-Philosophy salon After hitting 'reply' please always delete the text of the message you are replying to.
