Since you express an interest in Expanded Cinema, it's odd that no-
one's mentioned Paul Sharits' writings, which are in an issue of Film
Culture (late 70s/early 80s?) that you can purchase from Anthology
Film Archives.

Also look at Peter Kubelka's work. I wrote an essay on his famous
frame based film Arnulf Rainer, which is in a volume on Avant Garde
Film published by Rodopi Press / Amsterdam University.

Werner Nekes wrote an essay (sorry, don't have a reference) on what
he calls the "Kine": the two frames that are the minimum requirement
for a movie to be a movie.

Also look at Peter Gidal: Materialist Film, Malcolm LeGrice:
Experimental Cinema in the Digital Age, and old issues of Studio
International magazine that have essays and articles on Expanded
Cinema. Mark Webber's Shoot Shoot Shoot survey and the accompanying
essays.

There's loads of stuff actually on FILM! before defaulting to Derrida,

Nicky Hamlyn.
