Temporary fixed term appointment until the 30 April 2010 (maternity leave cover), or the return of the postholder from maternity leave whichever is the earlier date.

The University of Bolton is looking for a well-motivated person to lead a small team. The Disability Service is a key element in our integrated student support team.

The Senior Disability Advisor is required to provide information, advice and guidance to disabled students and those with Specific Learning Difficulties (such as Dyslexia), supporting them through, when appropriate, the application process for Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA). The post holder will be responsible for a caseload of students as well as managing two Disability Advisors and an Administrative Assistant. In addition to this the Disability Team is a key source of advice for colleagues throughout the University in their support of students.

The successful candidate should have a degree level, HND and/or an appropriate professional qualification, or proven relevant experience in a similar role as well as IT skills in support of student records administration. Effective presentation, organisation and administration skills and the ability to interpret relevant codes of practice for everyday use are essential, as is appropriate customer care experience particularly when dealing with people with specific requirements. You should be adaptable, committed to equal opportunities and be able to work independently and appropriately under pressure.

The successful candidate will be working in an open-plan office. Interview rooms are available for arranging consultations with students.

Salary in the range of £26,223 - £28,077 per annum.
