Well, strangely, unlike the others on here I seem to be the odd-bod as I
actually helped set this up within Royal Mail Marketing and Sales some
20 years ago!! It was one of the lightbulb experiences that Peter has
also had it appears, I found the DPA 1984 and thought "that is really
interesting" and got hooked! I have been working at DP for the last 20
years with Royal Mail, RBS and now GHA. I also have my own small DP
consultancy with several clients on board.

Best thing for Peter to do is get his ISEB (he says with a laugh in his
throat) and then start looking around the websites for DP related jobs.
As my colleagues on here have said, these are few and far between but
sometimes you can get an in to a company and that is where you start.

Best of luck to the lad, he deserves it for having that lightbulb moment
:O)

Subject: [data-protection] Fw: Considering a career in PDP

Dear all,

I hope this topic is not outside the acceptable use policy of this site,
but

I hope that members may see the list as a way of encouraging and
supporting

new entrants into DP careers.

A (very good) student of mine is seeking work in the DP field and he
asked

me about how to get a job in DP. Clearly, members of this list are
immensely

better qualified than I to answer such a question. If anyone has the
time to

pass any suggestions or advice to Peter I am sure that he (and I) would
be

most grateful.

Regards
