My understanding, as a museum with a
Controlled Drugs licence, is that as long as there is no opium present, there
is nothing to stop you holding this legally.

This is an opium pipe, not sure about the
legalities of ownership with this. (I used to be Curator for Customs and Excise
so saw a lot of these!) They also come with enamel decoration.

This lovely object was bought in over the weekend. It’s
made from possibly electroplated silver and has removable tweezers and has what
looks like to be Chinese hallmarks.
Thing is, it doesn’t look like anything we have
in the collections? Has anyone come across one of these?
