We are pleased to announce that this year's RGS-IBG annual conference will be held at the University of Manchester. The 3-day event is the perfect opportunity to find out about the latest research and network with more than 1,200 geographers from around the world. You are invited to propose sessions with papers, or individual papers for open sessions. Sessions can be proposed by Research Groups (via the Chair) <www.rgs.org/ResearchGroups> or Independent Organisers.

Sessions will be 1 hour 40 minutes in length but the format is flexible; contributed papers, poster sessions, panel discussions, practitioner forums, or other innovative sessions or formats are encouraged. It is expected that most sessions will contain five x 20 minute papers (with time included in each for questions) or four x 20 minute papers with discussion / questions at the end.  All sessions will be reviewed and approved by the Conference Planning Committee.

We would like to draw your attention to the Themed Sessions already under development <

 and encourage you to submit papers to these, to develop your own sessions, or to submit papers to open sessions. For further details see: Call for Papers <www.rgs.org/AC2009CallForPapers>

 

Key dates :

·         22 February - deadline for session and abstract submissions by Research Group / Independent session organisers to the Society

·         23 April - deadline for submission of abstracts to open sessions (to the RGS-IBG)

·         4 June - early reduced rate registration closes and deadline for participants in the programme to be registered (details on fees to be posted in January)

·         25 August - Opening plenary (in the evening)

·         26-28 August 2009 - RGS-IBG Annual International Conference
