Hi Tim, For us, the platform is somewhat less important than archiving rights. We have content on all of them and they all seem to work fairly well. We will only move content to e-only if there are good archiving rights with a strong preference for Portico with post-cancellation rights. Loccks does not help us much as we don't have the staff to manage it. I do have a slight preference for those platforms which visually show the ownership rights - e.g. green dot. I like Highwire a lot but find it frustrating that they have not done that because I am constantly having to go to the admin module to see if the correct content is activated. That said, the economy and budgets being what they are - we are planning cancellations rather than adding new titles. As you may know, we specialise in academic books in the fields of Law, Economics, Business & Management and Public & Social Policy. We are launching a journals programme and have recently signed up a journal in the field of Human Rights and the Environment. (For more information follow this link to our website www.e-elgar.co.uk/jhre ). The contributors signed up for the first issue are excellent. We are currently making some choices for our technology infrastructure and marketing approach for this journal. These decisions will no doubt impact on the level of service we can give to libraries and so I just wanted to get some of your views. Would any librarians responsible for acquiring e-journals be kind enough to agree to an in-depth conversation over the phone? I am particularly interested to hear your preferences for e-journal platforms (Ingenta, Metapress, Atypon, Highwire, other independent providers) and whether our choice of platform would affect your decision to buy our journal, assuming that you have an interest in this area. If so please email me your contact details and times when you will be available over the next week. I will be most grateful for your help and look forward to hearing from you. With best wishes Yours sincerely Tim Williams -- Tim Williams Publisher Edward Elgar Publishing Tel.: +44 (0) 1242 226934 Fax.: +44 (0) 1242 262111 Edward Elgar Publishing Limited is registered in the UK at: The Lypiatts, 15 Lansdown Road, Cheltenham, Glos GL50 2JA Registered number: 2041703 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
