italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies

Colleagues interested in theatre may like to know that Professor Richard Andrews (Emeritus Professor of Italian, University of Leeds) has recently published The Commedia dell'Arte of Flaminio Scala: A Translation and Analysis of 30 Scenarios (The Scarecrow Press, 2008). The introductory part (vii to lvi) includes the editor’s Preface, Introduction to Scala, scenarios, masks (vecchi, servi, innamorati, capitano) comic and non-comic plots, confrontations, elastic gags and repetitions, and a note on the translation. Pages 1 to 341, entitled The Theater of Tales for Performance, have translations of the 30 scenarios selected (ex 50) and two indices.
